resolved "My Little Pony"? ...Or was it? Western Animation
Back in the 90s when I was four years old my mom rented me a movie and said it was "My Little Pony", but... What I remembered was pretty different from My Little Pony.
For one, the horses had more realistic proportions, and the protagonist was a young human boy. There was a medieval European fantasy setting with thatched roof cottages, and the tone was not as cloying. I distinctly remember a black, shadowy horse, and a fire. Also flying horses, not pegasi, but sort of walking in the air like Santa's reindeer.
Now... It could very well have been My Little Pony and I just have bad memory/my mind playing tricks on me. I was only four afterall. I know the first gen cartoons can get surprisingly tense and maybe I mixed up Megan and Danny, but there is still the possibility it was a completely different movie.
But I don't know of any uh, animated fantasy horse movies from that era other than The Last Unicorn, which matches the proportions and setting I remember, but there isn't a young human boy in it or a shadow horse from what I know.
Sooo, is there some other 90s or earlier animated fantasy movie with horses I could have watched? Or was it indeed My Little Pony or The Last Unicorn and my memory just sucks?
Edited by ninjamitsuki2resolved Girl and Boy on a Train Western Animation
Children's cartoon, possibly of UK origin, circa the late 1990s.
The setting felt Victorian/Turn-of-the-Century and focused of two characters: A little girl with dark hair, pale skin and a red dress and a young boy (who I think was poorer) with red hair, pale skin and a brown waistcoat suit. There may have been an older character who was a relative of the little girl who minded them.
The tone was grounded, don't really recall the story, but they went from place to place, I think. The art style, if I recall correctly, felt sort of like moving storybook illustrations. Sketchy, colourful, looked like colouring pencils and watercolour.
I definitely watched this a few times when I was very young, but all I really remember is the intro: the girl and the boy are on a train, with the carriage windows down. I think they go through an tunnel and the boy's face gets covered in soot.
resolved flash animated belgian cartoon about a girl and a firefighter Western Animation
There was this old show I used to watch as a kid about a girl whose cat gets stuck on the roof of a church and she tries to get it back down with the help of a firefighter (I think his name was Bob?). After a series of mishaps they end up in a different country and the rest of the episodes in the series involve them traveling all over the world just trying to find a way back to Waterloo, Belgium. It was an edutainment series, each episode presented you with a problem and you had to choose the correct solution to the problem out of 3 options. The firefighter was fat and had a stubble I think, and the girl had red hair in pigtails.
Edited by Helix-Supremeresolved Merlin + Potions Western Animation
my little sister has been trying to find this show/movie/short forever, but she doesn't remember a lot:
it's about merlin, she thinks, or a wizard/warlock dude who looks like merlin, and he has a wall of potions. she is pretty sure he had the classic blue robe/hat with stars
it's not shrek 3 or sword and the stone, would've had to have been mid-2000s or earlier
any ideas?

Edited by cantrememberresolved An adult swim cartoon about a married couple with a baby. Western Animation
This is the most recent one I came across. Let me give the hint of the episode: Basically it focused on a married couple (The guy had orange hair and glasses while his wife's hair was black and curly) with a baby. The episode had the married guy attend a mall arcade where there was a birthday stripogram and the episode ended with a kid using an arcade gun and being mistaken for a hostage taker which caused the police cars and helicopter to surround the mall?
resolved Adult cartoon Western Animation
I dont remember about this cartoon. Just that it was a parody.
I remember there was a scene with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. And the protagonist ended in their kids' room, one of them turned to be a samurai baby or something like that.
resolved Fox Kids - Lab Monkey Shorts Western Animation
Around the late 1990s/early 2000s, the UK version of Fox Kids had these 1 minute shorts in between shows. They were 2D animations about this talking, orange-haired monkey who was a former laboratory test subject. He escapes and befriends these two kids and lives with them. The shorts were sort of focused around gross-out humour.
Edited by DoctorInkresolved Weird Netflix show with 3D animated bears Western Animation
Around 2009-2010 there was a show on Netflix revolving around a family of bears.
The main character, an older sister, was hyped about the trip to the amusement park with her family.
Suddenly, her younger sister becomes completely sick and the trip is forced to be cancelled.
She wishes how she didn't have a sister to worry about anymore. Some sort of being comes to her and tells her how much she'd miss having a sister.
They go over some sorta flashback of all the times she's loved her sister.
Eventually, she gets over not being able to go on the trip and it ends with a happy ending.
resolved Show about a dog organization Western Animation
There was this show I remember as a kid (late 90s early 00s), where there was this underground base where dogs did stuff. I remember one had to do with water being wasted.
The main dog could also communicate with the big boss via the toilet.
Found it The Secret Files of The Spy Dogs
Edited by LadyJuseresolved (SOLVED) Simpsons Episode with Giant Robot Itchy/Scratchy Western Animation
My dad told me a funny story about a time he saw one episode of The Simpsons that involved external factors I won't go into here, but to make it simple, he said that the episode featured a theme park ride with a giant robot version of Itchy or Scratchy juggling capsules with people in them. It's not the season 6 episode Itchy and Scratchy Land, just to make it clear. As for the time frame, based on what he said, perhaps somewhere around 2013 or so.
Edited by KingofNightmaresresolved That one 3D animal superhero show? Western Animation
All I remember is that the leader of that superhero group was a wolf (his name probably starting with the letter L). In one scene, the gang are in his old town/city, and he starts howling from nostalgia. I don't remember where it aired on either, but I think it was on either CN, Disney, or Netflix...
resolved Bug School Western Animation
An animated short set in a school for insects, but they're cartoony and sort of humanoid.
From what I recall, the main character is a smaller bug, like a brown fly. I think he had spiky hair and was wearing a yellow T-shirt and red sneakers. He also played the flute. He's picked on by these other bigger bugs/students, but the flute bug saves the bully bugs from being under a glass or from some peril. It's a bit fuzzy.
There was also this female bug teacher who was attractive and could sing. She was like a light purple, with big black hair and wearing a short black dress.
Judging by the animation and clothes the bugs were wearing, I'm guessing early 1990s was when it made.
resolved Orange and Purple things - Nickelodeon Western Animation
A series of 1 minute shorts that popped up between shows on Nickelodeon in the early 2000s. Not sure if they only showed up in the UK Nick. They were CGI and were about these two odd creatures - one orange, the other purple - that I think had trumpet-shaped snouts. They spoke in squeaky noises and it was focused on slapstick humour.
resolved Captain No-Beard (bear with me) Western Animation
I remember this show clearly, but even though I know the name, the era and channel it was aired, I can't find any trace of it online.
The show was called Captain No-Beard (unrelated to the Wiggles character) and was about a dorky-looking pirate captain* who had a burly crew with little respect for him. He'd go on various adventures, though being sort of wimpy and nice, he was completely incompetent at piracy. He also had a waifish, blonde, girlfriend in a white dress who lived in the town the pirates docked in. I don't recall there being an antagonist on the show, but there may have been.
The art style was storybook-like; colourful with round character designs, aimed probably at a 7-8 year old demographic. Also, it was traditional 2D animation and digitally painted.
I should also point out that I watched this on the UK version of Discovery Kids, via the Sky TV network, circa the early to mid 2000s. I don't know if the programming was that different from other countries, but I thought I'd mention.
It could very well be that the show was made in continental Europe and might have been under a different name, but that's just a theory.
If any of this sounds familiar, I'd appreciate some assistance.
Thanks!
- Short black curly hair, red bandana with white polka dots, had a face like Jim Jinkin's Doug, black & white striped shirt, I think he also wore a waistcoat and raggy-ended trousers and no shoes. He was also shorter than everyone around him.
resolved stop motion short - graffiti artist in jail draws jungle Western Animation
Saw this on TV once years ago. I'll lay down some basics: British production (I think), stop-motion clay animation, 1990s.
This young guy is spraying graffiti on a wall and gets caught by a police officer. He ends up in a jail cell in a stripey prisoner uniform. He then uses chalk(?) to draw a jungle on the back wall of his cell, kicks off his clothes and starts to swing on a vine into the jungle scene. Cuts to a shot of a passing moustachoied guard barely noticing what's going on in the cell. There may be more to this, but that's as far as I remember.
resolved 1930's cartoon with villains tormenting the cartoonist who drew them Western Animation
I asked the uploader which cartoon it's from, and I haven't gotten a response yet.
Edited by DrNoPumaresolved Cartoon with a segment about the "black chip at the bottom of the bag" Western Animation
I remember there being a cartoon with a segment where the characters discuss the "black chip at the bottom of the bag" regarding the, well, charred black, usually extra flavorful potato chip frequently found as you get down to the crumbs of the bag.
I feel like they may have been in competition of who got to eat it, possibly describing it as having "absorbed the flavors of all the other chips" (or a line like that), and I feel like when someone finally did eat it, they went on a Mushroom Samba type of trip.
Tried Googling with different word combos but haven't found anything. Possibly an old Nicktoon? TIA!
resolved Weird cartoon on DVD Western Animation
Basically my nan had dozens of DV Ds me and my siblings used to watch when I went over to her house. They were mostly from late 90s to mid 2000s (Sonic Underground, Ant bully, Digimon adventure). One of these shows I cannot remember the title of, and have not seen at all since. It was about a boy and a girl I think. I'm pretty sure they were brother and sister. I don't exactly remember what they look like, but they gave off raggedy Ann / Andy vibes (similar colour scheme). There was also a professor character, who had a white shirt, a red vest, a blue graduation cap (I think), with white air and a long, rectangular, postman-pat like head. We wore round glasses, and had a cylindrical nose. I think there may have also been some yellow on him, but I am unsure. There was also a 'mascot' character. The kind with a really simple design that pretty much spoke in gibberish. I think he just white, small and fluffy. With that cereal-mascot face. He had no interesting features. No ears or tail or anything. Just stubby arms and legs, and a face. There were probably other characters, but I have no clue what they look like. The only episode that I can remember was one where one of the siblings (the girl I think) wanted to grow some flowers, so the professor guy made a greenhouse for her, as well as some fertiliser. The mascot guy ate or like bathed in the fertiliser and ending up becoming a giant or something. I don't remember how this plot actually concluded.
One thing to add is that this DVD was likely made in the UK, but it's possible it never aired on TV, since I can't find any promos for it.
I hope that I can actually find out what show this is one day. So, if anyone on here can help me find it, that'd be great :)
All the best
resolved Christmas special with flamingos Western Animation
A Christmas special I saw part of in the mid-00's, I think it had a colored pencil or watercolor aesthetic. What I remember is they sang a version of 12 Days of Christmas, only they stopped after 5, replaced golden rings with flamingos, and ended the song with a shot of a family eating all of the gift birds for dinner, followed by the kids in the framing device crying loudly. I think it was on Nicktoons Network but I'm not certain.
If you have seen Luis and the Aliens, early into the movie there is a scene onboard the alien mothership where the aliens watch Earth tv broadcast and for a "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" moment there is a scene from some anime* on the tv screen, before the aliens switch the channel. Anybody knows what anime is the screen from?
